  59. computer February 9th when I returned

  61. a New Jersey-Albany-NYC- Providence
  62. stint which was a direct result of the
  63. Rutgers Convention.

  67. shows, Terence D'Arby concerts, and
  68. maybe a Celtics game here and there)

  136.     Not much has been written about
  137. watchdogs. I've seen a lot about house
  138. pets, but not about guardian friends
  139. ..well here is some information I
  140. believe
  141. no one should do without...
  142.   Just getting a pitbull or a doberman
  143. is not enough. Believe me, I know. You
  144. dont want a dog that's gonna run away
  145. when a robber calls, or bark needlessly
  146. waking the neighbors and getting
  147. himself shot.
  148.   The perfect dog is quiet, loyal, and
  149. strong. I've scared the hell out of
  150. many
  151. a pitbull, and an aweful lot of
  152. dobermans, and on the otherhand, there
  153. are some
  154. neighborhood miniature Schnausers I
  155. would NEVER mess with.
  156.   The most important things you want
  157. your dog to be capable of are,
  158. catching,
  159. and alerting, and waiting. S/he should
  160. have that feline characteristic of
  161. stalking. Nice and quiet, she snoops
  162. up, and catches the threat to your
  163. privacy.
  164.   S/he should have a nice vicious bark
  165. that's reserved for emergency. You
  166. should know by your dog's tone that
  167. something's up so you can come right
  168. over.
  169.   Your dog should then have the
  170. patience of a student activist.
  171.   He or she should be able to wait at
  172. the enemy's feet, gnawing on his
  173. anklebone, taking lots of abuse til
  174. you get there armed with a
  175. gun/fone/plastique (whichever the
  176. situation necessitates).
  177.   Two ways to check your potential dog
  178. follow: Run straight after him. Many a
  179. doberman will run away if he feels
  180. threatened. While a smart move on the
  181. street; this is not wise when
  182. defending land. If s/he takes 2 or 3
  183. steps back,
  184. and digs in, that's your animal.
  185.   Bark. If the dog starts going nuts,
  186. barking, and shouting, and wailing,
  187. s/he's not your pet. You want a quiet
  188. dog. His/her first reaction should be
  189. stepping up alertness. The ears perk
  190. up, the eyes start focusing, the back
  191. hunches up. The best dog will be
  192. sizing up the situation like a Navy
  193. Seal.
  194.   If the dog reacts right to these two
  195. tests, go for it. You'll find your
  196. abode
  197. in good hands.

  303. Dukakis, that doesnt mean we are
  304. pushing
  305. him down your throat. Go for a local
  306. libertarian here or there if you have
  307. any
  308. running for senate, or house, grab a
  309. conservative here and there where your
  310. community needs it most. Say yes to
  311. some new liberals, or say no to some
  312. issues
  313. around town. Basically what we're
  314. saying, is:
  315.   Please vote.

  317. Dukakis stands with workers. Secure
  318. Jobs, Fair trade and plant closing
  319. nitification, continued health
  320. coverage greater investment, renewed
  321. commitment,
  322. worker protections, stronger job
  323. safety, low cost housing, family needs
  324. package.
  325.   Plus he picked a much better VP than
  326. Bush by far.

  329. A First-Hand Account.

  332. (APWN)--There is an incident that
  333. occured on my way to the Northern
  334. Transvaal,
  335. prior to the funeral of our leader,
  336. Peter Nchabaleng. I was arrested at a
  337. road
  338. block, dragged out roughly by a
  339. contingent of the Lebowa police with
  340. their SADF
  341. masters. They saw my UDF t-shirt. I
  342. was trampled down for a long time, my
  343. spectacles got broken, my wrist watch
  344. as well. I was later taken to the tent
  345. where you find the SADF. From the road
  346. block I was driven over bumps in a
  347. remote place, while in the back of the
  348. van. It was nice for the servants of
  349. terror, as they were laughing at me as
  350. I was going up and down and from side
  351. to
  352. side, there in the back...
  353.   This is my experience at the age of
  354. 20. It is also the experience of my
  355. generation-- a generation that has
  356. known nothing but torture and
  357. suffering.
